Dont see any replies yet to my post of a few days ago. I say screw the far left whackos who said there was no evidence to into Iraq. The evidence is never big enough for the far left. 9-11 and the profile of the Saddam regime gave us the right to go into Iraq. . But I ask you: do we pull out, and let the iraqis reason with the insurgents, or do we stay and keep fighting the insurgents? If the majority of the military and civilians say lets stay, okay then. Then stay, and lets get that scumbag terorist Abu Mussab Al Zarquawi!!!!!!

Indeed our service men and women make us proud with their dedication to do their job, and their courage in face of the fact that each day might be their last. Indeed the Iraqis cheered when we toppled Saddam. Indeed thouands had courage to come out and vote. Indeed, when we got there, we saw evidence of the mass kurdish graves, the evidence of terrorsit camps, and evidence of a bio weapon lab. The evidence is never big enough for the far left liberals. We must support our president, But now I must take a middle libertarian approach, and ask if its still working. The conservative talk radio hosts tell their listeners that freedom and democracy is taking hold in Iraq. But they never mention the Insurgents. Vietnam was ugly, but at least we had a line of demarcation separating the communists from freedom fighters. Indeed in that regard, Iraq is even worse, in that the insurgents have no ideology, nor do they come from any demarcated zone. They hide like ignorant cowards, and the kill decent people. We need a friendly hand on President Bush's shoulder to say, George, it was a just and noble cause. But lets pull out. Let the Iraqis try to settle it by themselves. Before more soldiers get killed by Insurgents, we need to step back and say, "Those who oppose the new Iraqi government, stand forward, and peacefully say why you are against peace and democracy." Until then, every house and building on every Iraqi street is a jack-in-the-box with the crank turning, and somewhere every dya insurgents rear their ugly head. We just dont know who to trust. The elections were a noble effort. Lets be realistic, and have some healthy pessimism. Did the elections really accomplish anything? Iraqis have no water; have no lights. Billions going to Iraq are earrked potentially for Infrastructure rebuilding. The insurgents destroy it all. They want only misery. And the Iraqis still have a rift between Sunnis and shiites. I say create a base, like we did in guatanamo bay cuba. put up a fence. Let them work it out. When the time is right, if we can identify the insurgent leaders, then we go in and finish the job.

Served with a bunch of great guys but have never tried to keep in touch. In fact, when I was in Vietnam there was almost a conscience effort to avoid getting to close to people as people came and went so rapidly. In addition,we used nick names so much that I don't think I could recall five people by their names. I have buried my Vietnam service so deep it has been hard to put the pieces back together. Maybe this will help.

I lost my brother PFC Melvin Dobly to Veitnam.I and my family would like to say Thanks to all are sevice Men and Woman for being there to Protect us.This is a poem my Daughter wrote for past and persent military FOR OUR HERO'S War on this country was not meant to be. You're over seas fighting so we can stay free We say a prayer every night for you before we go to bed. Our hearts are saddened for the families of the dead. We hope you come home safely and out of harms way. You are all heroes in our hearts every day. To our soldiers we love you as you can see And we can't wait until you come home back to the land of the free. Just know my family thinks of you each and everyday. And that we love you all this is what we have to say. We think of you each day and pray for you each night. We believe in you so do what you think is right. Just know that there are people who still care. And that we are with you with every prayer. By Miranda Frantz

January 30, 2005 Dear Marines of 1/3 Bravo Co. Today you made a difference in history! On this day proud fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters who love you are praying for you and your safe return. Your place in history is marked by your strength, determination and devotion to be the best Marine on God’s earth. As a mother of 4 sons, I know a little about the male ego. During this past year you’ve grown closer together as comrades. You know things about each other that no one else on this earth knows, not even their mothers. Because of the extraordinary makeup of a male ~ there are times you can not stand being in the same space with each other and yet in a split second, because you are a Marine you would lay your life down for one another without one moment of hesitation. Day in and day out you were given orders to liberate the Iraqi people. You watched your comrades being killed and wounded. If doubt of what you were doing ever crossed your mind, the core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment rolled in like the waves on the ocean. Our family safe at home, watched the television as hundreds of enthusiastic, determined Iraqi’s voted. Iraqi men, women and children were dancing in the street, smiling, singing and holding up their hands displaying the peace sign. This peace sign was NOT from the 60’s! The purple ink stained index finger would represent that no matter what the Iraqi people would vote with their hearts for a democratic free Iraq. The terrorists (I don’t like calling them insurgents) who killed hundreds of men, women and children could not stop thousands from voting. Many Iraqi’s united in their grief, were determined to vote in the memory of their loved ones. One woman was quoted, “I would of crawled across Iraq to vote today.” Many walked over 20 miles to a polling place. I wish that were true in the United States, yet we still live in the greatest country on this earth. You made this possible, yes you and your brothers. Do not ever forget this day. Your buddies, who gave their life’s to stand by fellow Marines, while never wavering, never looking back, and stood unyielding in the middle of battle, those are the faces you will never forget. Tell your children and grandchildren of the brave men you served with. Tell them how you and your buddies brought freedom to this new nation and it’s people. The next generation will need to appreciate that freedom come with a price tag it is never free! When your children see the tears fall from your eyes, as I did with my father’s, they will understand the sacrifice you paid on this day and for whom you paid if for. Your nation is so very proud of you. I am proud of you. Thank you does not seem adequate. My life will never be the same. My daily prayers and thoughts of you coming home safely to your parents will always have a corner of my heart. You and your family will forever be welcome in our home. We are part of the marine family, but more then that; you walked miles and miles beside our son in war torn Fallujah. You slept on hard cold dirt floors, shared MRE’s and stories with the man our son now has become while serving beside you in battle. Yet most of all, you watched each other’s backs while fighting the adversaries. Thank you, I am indebted to you for lifetime. If the new Iraqi forces have only half the bravery, some of the skills and determination you have shown, then they will have a strong national defense to rely on. The great American sacrifice, I believe, is you have seen and experienced things we as Americans at home will never know or can ever imagine. Please remember, that the terrorists, naysayers and freedom dream stealers did their best to stop this day. They did not. History was made this day; you are part of the birth of a new nation. We are proud of you. God bless, protect and keep you safe. Semper Fidelis Cindi Phelps Proud Marine Mom Steve and Cindi Phelps fishin2day@earthlink.net

Served with other marines from Tet of 68 to Dec. of 68.If any one would like information from me about any events throughout that year, or would like to share pictures or just recount the past, I would be glad to participate. I served with janicki, hamil, mcgee, jenkins, valdez, pena, mike and tom muldovan, evans, brooks, and ended up my service in nam under some idiot by the name of CPT. SHAW. our co at the time.conflict locations would include mutters ridge, villes at Phu Tai, Dai Do, and much of Quang Tri, Rock Pile, Camp Carrol, and various lz's including stud, mack. My brother was a corpsman in Long Beach calif. and treated many of the marines from our unit. His name was William martinez. He especially remembers doc adams from fighting around Gio Linh. http://doctorcatsburger.blogspot.com/ THE LAST JOB IN AMERICA WENT TO AN ILLEGAL ALIEN DAY PARADE "Wow, I can't believe they are really having a parade for today. This is quite a special occasion,Oh happy day "said Doctor Catsburgers receptionist as she carried the cooler full of ice to the curb and set it down behind the police line tape. The sun sat high in the sky as Johnny Hollywood worked frantically on the parade car to get it right for the big parade Bertha painted up the colorful banners to go on the float and all the kids helped, after all it was "THE DAY THE LAST JOB IN AMERICA WENT TO AN ILLEGAL ALIEN PARADE" The people danced in the streets and the birds sang but the illegal aliens couldn't even go to the parade because they had to work that day but all of the American People were there present and accounted for. Box Car Jesus,Doctor Catsburger,Johnny Hollywood and his stripping caseworker ,Seizure Chords and Sweet Bertha and the rest sold hotdogs soda pop and fireworks from the "LAST JOB IN AMERICA WENT TO AN ILLEGAL ALIEN DAY PARADE STAND" "Its like a painting by that old dead guy showing how life is here so beautiful"Said Johnny Hollywoods stripping caseworker Box Car Jesus,Doctor Catsburger,Johnny Hollywood and his stripping caseworker ,Seizure Chords and Sweet Bertha and the rest all discussed whether or not they could go over the border to Canada and get some health coverage since the last job was taken in the United States by illegal aliens and welfare for the Americans don't cover going to a doctor for human beings just vetenarians who have only practiced on camels way back in their country, not people and most of the Doctors in the United States were not from the United States although thier education was here in the United States paid for by the people of the United States. "Since the illegals they just swarm over the border in droves into the United States maybe we could just go over the border to a doctor up in Canada and get something for this headache that never goes away" ASKED THE CAT BOX CHRIST. Box Car Jesus,Doctor Catsburger,Johnny Hollywood and his stripping caseworker ,Seizure Chords and Sweet Bertha and the rest all discussed whether or not they could get a job in the United States if they left and came back pretending to be from some other country. "What if they find out we are really American's and won't hire us here in the United States because of it?" they asked arguing the point back and forth. "It seems the system is set up against the Americans having any kind of a job" said Berthas Mother as she joined the unemployed task force. "Maybe our government just does not want us to work, they just want us to not work?" Questioned Box Car Jesus. "Yeah, we give billions of dollars to all kinds of countries nobody ever heard of, maybe they want to just give us money instead of us having to work them jobs that is why they made it so we can not have a job, but every illegal alien that don't belong in this country has a job that I can't get and they get a welfare check too, they have a nice car and a nice place to live, what's that censorshit about?" asked Johnny Hollywoods caseworker as she removed her shirt to get a tan from the light of the television. "Wow, we are just lucky to be able to celebrate this day together "The day the last job in the United States went to an illegal alien" said Box Car Jesus as he drank his beersch. The dinner bell rang. Box car Jesus,Doctor Catsburger,Johnny Hollywood,Seizure Chords and Sweet Bertha all planned to go to another country to become citizens so they could come back to the united states and get a job.Doctor Catsburger,Johnny Hollywood,Seizure Chords and Sweet Bertha all ate the soup and pretended the burnt part that was stuck to the bottom was meat. "Meat? the burnt part from the bottom where the great cook forgot to stir the dogdoo?" asked the critic that musta been raised up in a better trailer park. "Since this was the day the very last job in the United States has been taken by an illegal alien what makes you think being from another country will get You a job here in the states? asked the crackwhore as she cleaned her crackpipe with vinegar "It was my caseworkers ideal" said box car Jesus "Don't You fret my little crackwhore as soon as we are illegals we will get a job for shure they will just simply let one of the pesky American citizens "go" as it were no worries" Johnny Hollywood said as he finished up his resume. After vittles Doctor Catsburger,Johnny Hollywood,Seizure Chords and Sweet Bertha all rode the stage coach into town to find a job but had no luck because this is the day that the very last job in the United States was taken by an illegal alien from another country. "What will we do when all the dogdoo soup runs out?" they asked each other. "Maybe we should go stand guard at the border to make shure that the illegal aliens with all of the jobs in America don't leave with all of the United States Currency" said Box Car Jesus. "What good would that do?" asked Johnny Hollywoods award winning landscaper

I was a squadleader in "CHARLIE" co. I was in 1st platoon and 2nd platoon. I never thought that 1/3 would go to iraq so i left and went to Quantico. Once i got there i vollunteered to go to Iraq with 1st MarDiv and was sent to Ramadi. We made some convoys to Fallujah where i saw some of my buddies in C co. Alot of those marines on that helo were marines i trained, they were my junior marines. My biggest regret is leaving 1/3 and not being able to go to battle with my brothers. Just wanted to write to all of C co and let them know that there was not a day that went by where i didn't try to get to fallujah and stay there with them. May all those lost Rest In Peace. I do not write this for anything more than to say "Thank You" for all of the support and thought that was afforded to myself and all the Marines who gave our all out there; the support from loved ones and patriotic Americans helped all of us endure dangerous missions and gave us a reason to fight hard to come home. For our brothers and your loved ones who had fallen, they fell for us, without them we would, by no doubt in my mind, not be here today for their heroism; may you rest in peace my friends and I will see you on that day of Judgement, Thank you. I was reading Leatherneck and thinking about Nam. One of the most important people to me as a new platoon commander, and someone who became a true friend, was my radio operator Richard Basso. It finally occurred to me to "Google" him and I was elated to find a message by him on this site that even mentioned me. The message is from May 1999, I hope the e-mail address is still current. I am determined now to find him as well as any other men who served with me in 2nd platoon or Alpha 1/3. The men of 2nd platoon kept me alive and taught me how to be a good platoon leader. Thank you all. Rick

A vetran marine buddy called me. He asked me if my nickname in Nam was "KRAUT" Nobody other than the guys over there called me that. I hadn't talked to anybody from Nam since I got out of the Marine Corp Sept 72. It was good to talk about Nam again I don't ever talk to anybody about what went on over there and it has been 34 Years. Semper Fi to all our Brothers.

My nephew is Cpl. Kyle Grimes who went down with 29 other Marines last week on a helicopter. I am proud to say that I am his Uncle and that I loved him dearly. Kyle wrote to me on last November before they went into Fallujah and told me that he was not afraid to die; but worried about his buddies and how his death might cause his family to suffer. It is now my honor to tell you this and to share my sorrow with you. Kyle died for the cause of freedom and will always be remembered for his courage and his unselfish love. God bless Kyle as we lay him to rest this week and all the men and women of our Armed Forces as they go into harm's way. No greater love than to lay down one's life for a friend. Semper Fi
