I wanted to drop a line & let you know I'm thinking about you guys in Afghanistan. I read some of what our battalion did in Fallujah-- nice to see we are still kicking ass! Please write if I can send you something. I was in the Persian Gulf War and almost lost my leg (non-combat related), curious how the conditions in Afghanistan compare! Yesterday was Veteran's Day and one of the people I work with walked up to me, shook my hand and said, "Thank you". I asked what he was thanking me for and he replied, "Your service to our country". No one in more than 3 decades had ever done that; I was dumbfounded. This morning my children, (daughter 11 years, son 10 years) asked if we could find a Marine from Minnesota who is stationed in Iraq that we could 'adopt'. I hope to find one on this site. Though being a Minnesotan is not a requirement, I thought it might be easier to meet face-to-face upon your safe return home. I would like my children to connect the fact that there are real people fighting for their home and freedom. My war, Viet Nam, is ancient to them and difficult to understand. If you are an active-duty Marine from Minnesota and would like to correspond, please send email; tell us little about yourself. Semper Fi and be well.

Yesterday was Veteran's Day and one of the people I work with walked up to me, shook my hand and said, "Thank you". I asked what he was thanking me for and he replied, "Your service to our country". No one in more than 3 decades had ever done that; I was dumbfounded. This morning my children, (daughter 11 years, son 10 years) asked if we could find a Marine stationed in Iraq from Minnesota the we could adopt. I hope to find one on this site. Though being a Minnesotan is not a requirement, I thought it might be easier to meet face-to-face upon your safe return home. I would like my children to connect the fact that there are real people fighting for their home and freedom. My war, Viet Nam, is ancient to them and difficult to understand. Whats up f-heads! Jesus, its good to know that you guys are at sea headed back to Okinawa. Word has it you guys are stopping in Thialand, enjoy your libo, you guys deserve it. To the Marine reading this message: I was in Charlie Co. 1/3 from 1990-1993. I spent 7 months in Saudi Arabia with them from 09/1990-04/1991. Several members of the Phoenix Police Department donated funds and created care packages in memory of Cpl Chris Lapka (KIA-Iraq)son of Ken Lapka Phoenix Police officer.
