Comments: Can anyone help me find a Marine I helped aboard my Amtrac sometime
during July and Aug. of 1966? I was with A co 1st Amtracs 66-67. We worked with 1-3 often.
We were dropping off night patrols on a river (name unknown to me) in the area of the
juncture of Rt. 1, Marble Mtn and a water purifacation plant. We dropped of this patrol
for a number of nights in the same place and would come back up river later and pick the
same patrol. On one night the patrol was hit as we started to pull back into the river. We
came back in to help and picked up wounded during the fire fight. After we moved back into
the river I went below to see what I could do for a man with a chest wound. He and I
talked a lot in a short time. We prayed together after he saw and asked for the Rosary
beeds I wore around my neck. They were made of twine. Through all of this I was busy
holding his chest togehter and keeping pressure on the wound. I guess becuase of the being
so exicted I never asked his name or for his home address. If any of this is familar to
you and you can give me any info that might help locate him please contact me. I have no
way to know if this Marine surrived or not, but if he did I want to talk to him and meet
him someday. If he did not surrive I have a need to talk to his family if they would allow
me to. If I can get mor info on the river name or the name of the exact spot, or the exact
date I will post it here. If anyone can tell me this info also I would be happy to receive
it so I can go to Wasgington and look through unit records and locate this man. My address

years, but that's a price of past substance abuse. I recently got a news letter that
mentions a Navy/Coast Guard Memorial being built in San Diego. They want to list names and
units for KIA's and MIA's but find that doctors and corpsmen weren't always identified
with Marine units they were serving with when they became casualties. If any one can help
with this project, they can contact the GAME WARDENS of VIET NAM or ASS'N FMF COMBAT
MEDICAL PERSONNEL, P.O. Box 230-711, Encinitas CA 92023-0711. I suppose you could also
contact me and I will forward the in of also. They have 678 names without units served
with. Who knows, maybe one day I'll be able to show up at a reunion....

Comments: Just returned from a three week tour of Viet Nam. We managed to cover
some of the sites where we were during operations Taylor Common, Maine Crag and Virginia
Ridge. Have got some terrific pictures which I'll share once I learn how to convey them on
the inter net. Viet Nam is a very different place today and it is well worth going back.
We had a ball even if the Russian built hotel in Dong Ha only had electricity two hours a
day.
